The Sacred Self: Origin Story

**PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIRED**

Every hero has an origin story: the explanation of childhood events and culture, and how that made them who they are. A mash-up of family, religion, community, expression. But what is the origin story of our own beginning? How do we separate what doesn’t serve us and merge with what’s possible?

What are the things that we need to acknowledge from our own religious and familial upbringing that harmed us? Are there things that we have assumed are part of our character, but really they were part of a cultural system of trauma? What do we do when we realize we don’t align with those practices/beliefs/family members anymore? What can we do with those toxic beliefs and can we maybe replace them in our lives?

Join Emily Bartlett P-RDT, TTT (she/her) and Madison Mae Parker (she/her) on February 26th from 10 am- 4pm in Kansas City to explore your origin story and how it is informed by your family, and your family’s religious practices. We will begin the process of detangling the parts of ourselves from the parts that were formed through church trauma and toxic beliefs.

Space is limited. Cost is $75 with lunch and supplies included. Scholarships available- email b.hivetheatre@gmail.com inquire.
